..so this guy is traveling across America taking pictures of everyday people, he's a photographer, he apparently wants to do this 365 times.
One photo for everyday of the year I suppose.
It's an interesting premise. He has a route and and has asked for help in that he wants volunteers for his project.
You can volunteer and change his route by sending him a message, he'll be in California in the middle of 2012.
Maybe I'll volunteer.
His website is called This Wild Idea, but that's not the funny part, the funny part is that he has a side blog featuring his dog. Apparently his dog is entertaining enough to warrant his own blog.

The dangers of unfriending on Facebook

What in the hell is wrong with people? Doesn't anyone know how to behave anymore? It's painfully clear that some people are too stupid to understand their own limitations.
This horrible tragedy began when 36 year old Billy Payne Jr. and his girlfriend, 23 year old Billie Jean Hayworth deleted Jenelle Potter. This did not please Jenelle, who has shown herself to be a cuckoo bird considering that she unraveled in such an ugly way. Incredibly she launched a campaign of harassment against these two people. Over a Facebook page for chrissakes.
Billy and Billie Jean had already complained to the police, telling them that Jenelle the cuckoo bird was harassing them over the deletion.
Well, enter Jenelle's father Marvin, who apparently has even less sense than she does. What does he do? He rises up in righteous indignation and kills Billy and Billie Jean for deleting her.
Yes, this 60 year old psycho killed two people for removing his daughter as a friend. WTF?
The couple was shot to death in their Mountain City home. Their 8-month-old baby was found unharmed in Hayworth's arms.
Marvin's friend, Jamie Curd, yet another lunatic, who just happens to have romantic feelings for this cuckoo bird has also been charged in the killings.
Due to the psychotic nature of the Potters, the authorities have been involved other cases where, Jenelle believed she had been slighted by someone.
According to court documents, last May, another woman Lindsey Thomas, took this lunatic to court after filing a telephone harassment complaint against her.
In her affidavit, Thomas said, "Jenelle Potter whom I’ve never met has been harassing me for months now. She has called my phone anywhere from 5-20 times a day. I have asked her on more than one occasion to quit calling me, but have had no luck. This all started because I deleted her off my Facebook. She continues to lie and say stuff about me all over her Facebook. I have proof of Phone calls and stuff on Facebook."
Anyway, back to the two mensos, they were arraigned Wednesday. Potter asked for time to hire an attorney while Curd was assigned a public defender who did not immediately return a phone message.
Assistant District Attorney General Matthew Roark said Curd's initial bond was raised to $1.5 million while Roark agreed to put off a bond hearing for Potter until next week, when he is expected to have an attorney. Potter remains jailed on his initial $200,000 bond.
The victims lived with Billy Payne Sr., who was the last person to see them alive. He told detectives he saw Hayworth get up to feed the baby before he left for work at about 5:30 a.m. on January 31st.
The slayings were discovered about five hours later when a former neighbor stopped by to pick up mail the family would save for him.
So far this lunatic has not been charged with a crime with regard to the double murder. However, Assistant District Attorney Roark said that she's at the center of this mess. For all we know she sent these idiots on their mission.

Sometimes the creepy dude and the artist intersect, as in the following case. A few years ago Disney hired Annie Leibovitz to do some sensational photos of fairytale characters.
They were done up Leibovitz style and almost looked like spectacular painting.
The following photos do not look like spectacular paints, they look like crime scene photos.
Even worse some look like pictures taken by the actual murderer.
These are photos you would never show to a kid, talk about destroying dreams!
So now the real question is what's going inside the creepy dude's head?

Vending Machines Have Definitely Evolved

I can already hear blood vessels popping and arteries hardening over this bit of news. Check this out:
Students at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania can get the "morning-after" pill by sliding $25 into a vending machine.
Their student health center provides the Plan B One Step emergency contraceptive in the vending machine along with condoms, decongestants and pregnancy tests.
One student, junior Chelsea Wehking said, "I think it's great that the school is giving us this option. I've heard some kids say they'd be too embarrassed" to go into town and buy Plan B.
Federal law makes the pill available without a prescription to anyone 17 or older, and the school checked records and found that all current students are that age or older, a spokesman said. It doesn't appear that any other vending machine in the U.S. dispenses the contraceptive, which can prevent pregnancy if taken soon after sexual intercourse.
Taking Plan B within 72 hours of rape, condom failure or just forgetting regular contraception can cut the chances of pregnancy by up to 89 percent. It works best if taken within 24 hours.
Since some religious uptight types consider the emergency contraceptive to be an abortion drug, perhaps they ought to step up and be financially responsible for the kids up to his/her 18th birthday, yes?
To them, if a woman's rape results in pregnancy she should still have the baby to satisfy their twisted personal agendas? Assholes.
The machine has been in place for about two years, and its existence wasn't widely known until recently. The FDA's sudden interest took place amid a furor over religious rights and access to birth control. The Komen fiasco and the GOPs attacking the Obama administration for a recent ruling requiring church-affiliated employers to provide birth control.
The idea for a vending machine started at Shippensburg after a survey about health center services several years ago. Eighty-five percent of the respondents supported making Plan B available. The student government endorsed the idea.
The machine is in the school's Etter Health Center, which only students and university employees can access. Students must check in at a lobby desk before being allowed in.

Nonetheless, those that do not approve of women deciding for themselves will be hollering about this.

What's the story?
1) Despite appearances, the Oregonian on page #3 is not wearing his grandma’s housedress. That appears to be a smock issued by the hospital where the banged-up 22-year-old was taken following his collar for escape, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest;
Plus, he's sporting a serious shiner.
I hope he gave as good as he got.
2) The yelling Michigan man, 44, on page #4 was jailed Sunday while awaiting arraignment;
3) The 19-year-old Georgian on page #8 was booked Saturday for violating probation. Those white dots on his face? Well, that’s a mystery only he can solve;
Further there's seems to be no rhyme or reason for the dots.
4) You know your ‘fro’s big when it can’t fit into your mug shot. Which was the case with the Michigan man on page #13, who was busted Tuesday for domestic violence;
That is a big hairdo, he should comb it though.
and 5) Though she looks harmless, cops allege that the 72-year-old woman on page #14 assaulted someone with a dangerous weapon.

What a charmer she is!
Could be someone's grandma, and yet, she's been busted for assault.

The Hits Just Keep On Coming

Only in Arizona. Their Supreme Court has ruled that city council candidate Alejandrina Cabrera, who has limited English language skills can be kept off the ballot in a largely bilingual town on the Mexico border. San Luis, has a population of roughly 25,000 people, and is right on the border, inches from San Luis Rio Colorado, in Mexico's northern Sonora state.
People were up in arms last week when a Yuma County Superior Court judge disqualified Cabrera from running for city council in the town of San Luis. He referred to a "large gap" between her English proficiency and what's required to serve as a public official.
Funny how that "large gap" didn't prevent the pinhead from getting to the White House.
The Arizona Supremes didn't give a reason why it sided with the lower court, but they did say that a written decision would follow.
Immigrant rights activists called such language-based restrictions hostile to immigrants, potentially driving a wedge between Latino communities and the rest of American society.
I guess they've not yet noticed the already present wedge.
Proponents of enforcing English as the sole language of state government said that the country needs a common tongue to promote national unity. They cite the immigration and assimilation by generations of new Americans.
Though Cabrera was born in Yuma, she moved to Mexico when she was young and spent much of her childhood there. She returned to Arizona for the last three years of high school, eventually graduating from Yuma's public Kofa High School.
It was in high school that she met the current town mayor, Juan Carlos Escamilla, who went on to file the lawsuit claiming she has insufficient command of the English language to hold elected office.
Cabrera admitted in the interview, conducted in English, that she is not completely proficient in English but said she can read it, understand and respond. During the interview she spoke with intensity and passion, but sometimes in the wrong tense, or with the order of words scrambled.
Hell that sounds like the average high school graduate, and English is their mother tongue.
About the mayor, Cabrera said, "He is the Joe Arpaio of San Luis, Arizona. He has the power, and uses the power for abuse."
Cabrera has twice led efforts to recall Escamilla from office... which is probably why she's not had the time to shop for long sleeved blouses.
She says that the cost of water has skyrocketed in the city, roughly tripling under Escamilla's tenure, and that he fired a dozen city employees while padding the paychecks of his inner circle.
Mayor Escamilla failed to appear for a scheduled interview. He also failed to respond to email and phone messages.
Interesting. Perhaps he's trying to formulate his responses. Or, he's a coward.

...apparently there is a contest of some sort on Univision featuring Latina's, the show is called Nuestra Belleza Latina.
Judging from the turn out in LA, it seems to be a big deal, and most amusingly they've hired a dude who knows fashion and proper dress for these gigs.
Or at least he sounds like he knows fashion, which is at least half the battle.
He gives fashion tips which clearly falls on deaf ears.he also gave an impromptu "intelligence test" which as you can see for yourself falls woefully short of the mark.
Where do these tontas live? Oh yeah, LA which is a world unto itself.

It's Not Nice To Screw The Pooch So Publicly

Their prospects seem to have improved somewhat with the resignation of senior vice president for public policy and chief lobbyist, Karen Handel. Even though Handel is a GOP who once ran for governor of Georgia on a platform calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood, she blamed Planned Parenthood for their "vicious attacks" and "coercion" to prevent Komen from setting its own standards.
Evidently she believes that the general public is way too stupid and unable to understand their obvious political move that pandered to the anti-choice faction.
She said, "I resigned because it was clear that all of this had gotten to a point where ... I was too much of a focal point. I really felt I had a responsibility to step aside so they could refocus on their mission."
The movement to curb women's rights to have control over their own bodies is no doubt crying the blues at this inevitable turn of events after Komen shot themselves in the foot.
Kristi Hamrick, a mouthpiece for one of those "let's turn women into livestock groups," Americans United for Life said, "The events of the last week show just how ruthless the abortion industry will be to anyone who is perceived as not supporting their agenda."
Yeah right. They don't spin shit and get all ugly when someone doesn't agree with them? Shut up and sit down and quit trying to take away women's rights.

In yet another interview, the offensive Handel went on the offense to accuse Planned Parenthood. According to her, they "hijacked" the breast-cancer charity and conducted "the most unbelievable shakedown that I think we've seen in a long time."

She said, "Planned Parenthood unleashed, unleashed a premeditated, vicious attack not only on Komen, but also on Ambassador Brinker as well. It was absolutely outrageous what transpired here."

Does this dumb bunny not get that donors were the driving force?

Hilarious amendents to "personhood" laws...

..remember last week when a Democratic law maker attached a ridiculous amendment to hateful anti-choice laws?
Her brilliant ploy was to attach a rectal exam requirement for men who wished to obtain a prescription for erectile dysfunction medicine.
Makes as much sense as requiring women to endure intrusive and unnecessary medical procedures before they obtain badly needed access to choice.
I've made this case at least one hundred times, we are no better than livestock if we have no agency over our own bodies.
So here's the latest trend, in a line of trends, attach a ridiculous amendment to a stupid law that clearly demonstrates little regard for a woman's choice over her own body.
This one is an especially good one.

Yesterday, our state lawmakers introduced SB 1433 to the Senate Floor. The bill, now known as the Personhood Act, is part of the right-wing movement to give rights to fertilized human embryos, including the ones that still haven’t lost their gills or tails.
Good to know not everyone in Oklahoma is an idiot.
However we must remember the Senator was mostly chiding the male body of the senate and the few turncoats who reside there.
I guess we should mention that Senator Johnson wasn’t being serious. She filed the amendment in jest and even voted to table it later in the day. Apparently she just wanted to point out the absurdity of the Personhood movement and its sexist undertones. That’s good, too, because I firmly believe that sex should always begin and end in a girl’s mouth. The amendment would have totally ruined that.
The bit of news was taken from the blog I referenced above and of course is written in comical prose.
Which doesn't preclude these idiots (as astute as they seem) to be from being assholes either.
Anyway, this legislative session is going to be so awesome. We’re not even a week into it and we’re getting good material. You know Sally Kern is watching all this from her tower in Isengard and just smiling.
Who knows what goodies she has for us later this year.

Arrogance & Jackassery

What is it going to take for the Catholic Church to admit not only their culpability, but also their enabling behavior in the sex scandal that they perpetrated for decades? A bolt of lightening up their collective asses? Perhaps, since that might dislodge their heads.
Because he evidently has nothing better to do in his retirement, New York Cardinal Edward Egan stepped into shit with both feet. In a recent interview this jackass actually said that he regretted apologizing for the priest abuse scandal in 2002 when he was bishop of Bridgeport.
This stupidity came out in full force when this jackass was asked about a letter he wrote to parishioners in 2002, in which he sidestepped the church's responsibility by saying, "if in hindsight we discover that mistakes may have been made as regards prompt removal of priests and assistance to victims, I am deeply sorry."
Then he got really stupid with, "First of all I should never have said that. I did say if we did anything wrong, I'm sorry." The with regard to handling abuse cases he said, "I don't think we did anything wrong."
He said he was not obligated to report abuse claims and maintained he inherited the cases from his predecessor and did not have any cases on his watch. As for reporting claims to authorities, he said, "I don't think even now you're obligated to report them in Connecticut."
Hey asshole, is this what is considered to be "Christian virtue"?
According to attorneys who represented numerous abuse victims, clergy in Connecticut have been required to report abuse claims to authorities since the early 1970s. They said, "Egan never did so and his failure to do so constitutes a violation of the law."
Okay, so he's not only an asshole, he's a liar too.
Incredibly, he got stupider with, "I sound very defensive and I don't want to because I'm very proud of how this thing was handled. I believe the sex abuse thing was incredibly good." Asked if he meant because it resulted in positive changes, he responded with, "Good that ... the record, I think, is an excellent record."
The attorneys for the victims had something to say about the "excellent record."
The attorneys said their clients included victims who were abused by priests while Egan was Bridgeport bishop. In 1989 and 1993, abuse victims complained to the diocese but no action was taken. They said, "For the cardinal to 'take back' his apology is just another slap in the face of every victim who has endured the physical and emotional upheaval and betrayal of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a priest."
They also said that Egan welcomed a priest back into the diocese in 1990 who had been accused of biting a young man's penis decades earlier.
The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests called Egan "obviously unrepentant, self-absorbed and painfully dismissive of the abject suffering of tens of thousands of deeply wounded men, women and children who have been sexually violated by priests, nuns, bishops, brothers, seminarians and other Catholic officials. We can't help but believe that many other prelates feel exactly as he does but are shrewd enough to avoid saying so outside of clerical circles."
Telephone messages were left with church officials in New York and Bridgeport went unanswered.
But then since all they could say is that they're assholes, why would they return calls?

Much Ado About Nothing

People are just too damned sensitive about things these days. I'm by no means a cheerleader for McDonald's, but I also think that whining until they got an apology from them for their latest ad is extremely silly.
Having said that I also have to say that I'm not a dog person, never liked 'em, never will. Sue me.
The ad that caused so much distress said eating a Chicken McBite was less risky than petting a stray pit bull, shaving your head, naming your son Sue or giving friends your Facebook password.
Surely pit bull supporters know that a LOT of pit bull owners cannot even manage themselves, let alone a dog that has so many aggressive tendencies.
I've seen these aggressive dogs on leashes all over town snarling at anyone and everyone who passes by. If the pit bull supporters want for the public to view these dogs differently, then they themselves need to be more aggressive about the handling of these dogs. If any brainless twit wants to get one to look tough, just because pit bulls are "scary dogs," then they need to address that problem, not wet their pants when ads like this come out.

Getting in touch with sites like this might open their eyes to the need for education about these dogs.
The apology from McDonald's came from their mouthpiece, Ashlee Yingling who said, "The ad was insensitive in its mention of pit bulls. We apologize. As soon as we learned of it, we tracked the source and had the local markets pull the ad immediately. We'll do a better job next time. It's never our intent to offend anyone with how we communicate news about McDonald's."

Then there's the dog's lawyers...

"I found it extremely offensive and reckless," said Rachele Lizarraga of Sacramento. "Why would you try to promote the safety of food?"
Maybe because their food is higher in calories than nutrition and it helps pack on the poundage?
Many of the 8,200-plus people who liked the Facebook page said an apology wasn't enough — they wanted a donation to some pit bull organizations and a McDonald's ad featuring a pit bull.
It was not a national radio ad, Yingling said. "Working with the local market, we took immediate action to pull the ad and apologized for the mistake. Again, it's never our intent to offend anyone."
She did not say if McDonald's would be making any pit bull rescue donations or making an ad with a pit bull.
Laura Goldman, senior social media writer for ilovedogs.com, was one of the first to post about the ad. Friday was the second highest traffic day ever on their website, said Goldman, who has two rescued pit bulls of her own.
She said, "It made me really angry. It seemed like a stupid advertising campaign, insinuating eating their food is risky. I would rather pet a million stray pit bulls than eat one pink slimy Chicken McBite."
Eating their food IS risky, to a person's health. Where has she been?

Here's some interesting news that everyone in the Rat Race is certainly aware of, right? Maybe not. Here's a list of "rights" people might think they have.

Myth: It's illegal for an interviewer to ask about your religion, national origin, marital status, number of children, etc.

Fact: In most states, the act of asking these questions itself is not illegal. What is illegal is basing a hiring decision on the answers to these questions. So since an employer can't factor in your answers, there's no point in asking them, and smart interviewers don't go near these topics. It is however, illegal to ask about disabilities.

Myth: If your boss bullies you, you can sue under "hostile workplace" laws.

Fact: Bullying or being a jerk is bad management, but it's not illegal. The exception: If your boss is being a jerk to you because of your race, gender, religion, or other protected class, then you do have legal protection. But 99 percent of jerky bosses act like jerks just because they are, and that is legal.

Myth: Employers are required to provide paid time off.

Fact: No state or federal law requires paid vacation time. A very small number of jurisdictions require paid sick leave, but the majority of Americans live in places not covered by those laws. Of course, most employers offer paid vacation and sick days anyway to be competitive and attract good employees--but there's a difference between what's smart and customary, and what's legal.

Myth: You can sue if your boss makes an offensive or discriminatory remark to you.

Fact: One remark on its own isn't enough for a discrimination lawsuit. Instead, a suit requires offensive conduct so severe that it alters the terms of your employment.

Myth: Your boss must have a justifiable reason for firing you.

Fact: Your employer can fire you for any reason at all or for no reason, as long as you're not being fired because of your membership in a legally protected class (race, religion, nationality, sex, marital status, disability, and so forth). You can even be fired because your boss doesn't like your laugh or the color of your shirt.

Here's part of a thoughtful commentary by Randy Alcorn, who writes a syndicated column in several newspapers located in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Ventura, California.

The GOP presidential primary process has new depths of disgust in American politics.
In their losing search for a "true conservative," the GOP clowns continue to beat themselves with their own clubs, and in the process, illustrating to us that none of them is worthy to lead this nation.
It is depressing to think this squabbling gang of power-grasping, ideologically addled hypocrites are the best this country has to offer for new leadership. For as mercilessly as they have denigrated Barack Obama as incapable of leading the nation, they surely have not offered any better candidates.
First up: Donald Trump, running for president as a self-promotion device for his various egocentric enterprises.
Next: Herman Cain, whose quality of character and knowledge of current events were mediocre at best.
Next: Rick Perry, another slow-witted cowboy called upon by God to run for president.
Next: Rick Santorum, a man whose brand of Puritan politics would have been perfect in 1692 Salem.
Next: Newt Gingrich, the born-again conservative, has captured the conservatives who seem willing to ignore his marital infidelities, where they would not overlook those of Cain (curiously, the black candidate). The right-wing nuts love it when you savage the "mainstream media," whom they consider to be the mouthpiece for their Great Satan - liberalism.
Lastly: Mitt Romney is the best of the worst. This successfully capable man has solid executive experience in business and in government, where he demonstrated pioneering sagacity in establishing universal health care for Massachusetts - something he now disavows. In his desperation to win the nomination, he has straddled positions on so many issues, it is impossible to know where this elitist with the robotic personality stands on anything.
The dictionary definition is someone "disposed to preserve or restore what is established and traditional and to limit change." Essentially, a conservative is an ideological Luddite who wants to maintain the status quo, which, of course, is impossible.
Once, traditional values included racial segregation. The status quo allowed industrial monopolies to exploit society through child labor, slave wages and environmental depredations.
Continuing to do their best to resist the reality of change are today's true conservatives, a mixed tribe of economic elitists, dogmatic Christians and paranoid patriots obsessing over various conspiracy theories involving Orwellian government. These folks have grown deaf listening to their own loud voices. Their minds are impermeable to logic and facts because they cannot set aside ideological convictions to examine issues objectively.
America does not need a true conservative president or a true liberal president. America needs true leaders, people who are wise enough to adapt to inevitable societal change, and who objectively assess realities and craft public policy to effect the best outcomes for the national welfare.

An excellent piece. Everyone bitching and moaning about President Obama, ought to pay attention to the resistance he gets in every quarter, before they start blaming him for being unable to quickly repair the mess left to him by the egregiously stupid pinhead.

Genius of the week

The genius

32 year old Anquin St. Junious is not very smart. After being involved in a bar fight, he and the other hooligans were ejected by the bartender. Evidently his ego couldn't allow him to simply go home. He forced his way back into the bar and stabbed the 24 year old bartender, who despite being stabbed beat the crap out of Anquin.

Anquin's injuries include a lip pierced by his teeth that will require stitches. Oh well, at least he wasn't stabbed. Despite the fact that he was found lying on the sidewalk bleeding from an obvious beating, so far no one has been arrested for assaulting Anquin.

However, he faces charges of recklessly endangering safety and disorderly conduct while armed.

His story is that a group of men attacked him and he used a knife he found on the ground for self-defense. He also denied stabbing anyone.

The bad news is that a witness said he removed a knife from his pocket just before the stabbing. The worse news is that the tavern is providing video of the incident to police.

His hysterical sister, 35 year old Kimberly St. Junious, AKA Sarah Bernhardt, fainted twice while telling police her brother wasn’t involved in the stabbing and said several men assaulted him outside the bar.

The bad news for her is that witnesses said she threatened to shoot several people at the tavern. so she's facing a disorderly conduct charge.

Anyway, back to Anquin, when he went back to court he was looking for sympathy from the judge. He sat motionless in a wheelchair as his attorney tried to convince a judge he needed to be released from jail since due to the ass-whupping' he can't move his arms, or walk for more than 15 seconds and has a hole in his throat that is susceptible to infection. Also, he can only feed himself with a special lightweight spoon.

The only problem with that sob story is that jail staff shared some surveillance video with Judge Scott Horne that showed Anquin doing pushups in his cell.

Therefore, instead of releasing him over his supposedly poor medical condition as his attorney had requested, the judge doubled his bond to $50,000 cash.

A better story and a better lawyer might have helped, yes?

Intolerance is not pretty

Memphis talk radio host Thaddeus Matthews had an ugly meltdown on the air the other day. He apparently didn't care for the answers, or in his mind, the non-answers from GOP congressional candidate Charlotte Bergmann. Unfortunately, his best choice was to insult and humiliate her.
And that's being kind. Matthews quickly became upset with her when she wouldn't answer directly about any affiliation with the Tea Party. Then he launched into a 16-minute argument filled with curse words and accusations that added up to her being too close to whites and not really having the interest of the black community in mind. Eventually, Bergmann bowed out of the conversation, and that's when Matthews really let her have it -- not only did he accuse her of being a "token negro" for whites, but he also slipped in references about Martin Luther King and even refused to shake her hand because he was afraid her "whiteness" would rub off on him.
What ever happened to civil discourse? Agreeing to disagree would have been taking the high road, but evidently he wasn't able to do that.
The most frustrating aspect of this very public unraveling is that it gives the Teabaggers ammo and they really don't need more. Additionally, the inability or unwillingness to endure an opposing view does not make for a good host.

As for Bergmann, she's going to get a lot of mileage out of this. She says on her Facebook page that she's now been invited to the CPAC conference to speak about the incident. She'll get support there from all of the tight sphincters that will support her for their own nefarious reasons.

This is Lisa Woodson. She says that she's 28, but I gotta tell ya, while I admit that I've not been a spring chicken for quite some time, I know I looked better than this at age 28 and so did my sister. Better yet, I have pictures to prove it.

So, back to Lisa. She's a mother of four. She and her sister Sarah like to go out on the town. Well, even after getting all gussied up, they were denied entry at all three clubs in town.
When she asked the bouncer at one of the clubs why they were turned away, she was told, "You're too old to wear that get-up."
Ooo! Ouch!
Here's another thing to think about. It might not have been the skimpiness of the outfit that was in question, it just might have been the unfathomable tackiness. Clearly, if Lisa actually believes that she looks good, she's in desperate need of help from the folks over at What Not to Wear.
Dressed in this manner she appears to be waiting for a trick. On a corner.
Lisa acknowledged that her outfits may be a little provocative, but she is also correct in saying that they more or less cover her up. As she pointed out, she isn't hurting anyone, and furthermore, her behavior seems to have been exemplary-she says she remained polite to the bouncers even in the face of their mistreatment of her.
When the Daily Mail got in touch with Nexum Leisure, the company which runs all three of Worcester's clubs, director Dean Hill told them this: "We expect people to make an effort and we have a dress code of smart casual."
Lisa told the newspaper that during the incident, "One doorman even made me walk up and down and turn around in front of people laughing at what I was wearing. I was totally in shock and really humiliated."

Lisa evidently did not get the message about her attire. Also, being a single mother to four kids doesn't give many opportunities to smile, but id she did, perhaps it would soften her features?
Dean Hill went on to say, "At the end of the day, it's private premises and we reserve the right to refuse entry for anyone."

That's true, but humiliating them is the wrong way to go about it.

J.C. Penney proudly announced that Ellen DeGeneres was the department store's new spokesperson last week. As expected. the haters came calling. You know who I mean, those busybodies who dislike anyone who doesn't fit their narrow idea of "normal" and completely missing the fact that they aren't the most normal of beings.
The One Million Moms organization, part of the American Family Association, called on members to urge the company to rethink their decision. Why? Because she's openly gay.
In fact, their website says, "Funny that J.C. Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families. The majority of J.C. Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there."
Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
As one of the most popular talk show hosts on TV, with over 3 million viewers turning in each episode, Ellen has her own army of followers that transcend traditional demographics. Gay, straight, moms, dads, kids, and even television critics (she's won over 32 Emmys), Ellen has surprised the industry's once closeted Hollywood culture by proving that talent and likability can override bigotry.
Bottom line, everyone likes Ellen. People like what they see and hear. She's someone who doesn't seem like she'd lie to you, because even when her job as a sitcom star was on the line in 1997, she never did.

In fact, during the fourth season of Ellen in 1997, DeGeneres came out publicly as a lesbian in an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Shortly afterwards, her character Ellen Morgan also came out to a therapist played by Winfrey, and the series went on to explore various LGBT issues including the coming out process.
There will always be detractors, but let's remember what Hubert Humphrey once said, "The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously."

It's unclear whether the One Million Mom project actually lives up to its name in numbers. At least one blogger has infiltrated the organization as a fake member. Like other marginal groups, the organization thrives on controversy, linking its name to major companies and stars for attention.
The hate campaign against Ellen won't impact J.C. Penney's decision. The company released a statement confirming it "stands behind its partnership with Ellen DeGeneres."
Then of course there are Penney's shoppers.
Penney's Facebook page had over 600 positive comments such as:

"As an American Mom in a traditional family with no gay or lesbian family members I want to respond with a big congratulations to both you and Ellen. Don't let anyone tell you how to run your business. Not everyone in America is homophobic. I will continue to shop at your stores and admire your courage!!!"

and...

"The 'One Million Moms' group doesn't speak for this Mom!!! I am thrilled that you have chosen to work with Ellen and am proud that your organization isn't letting bigotry stand in your way!"

Let's all remember that Ellen's talk show has more viewers than the American Family Association has moms. It's been averaging 3.38 million viewers -- or 2.38 million more people than the AFA has moms.

It's time for them to shut up and sit down. I for one am tired of the blatant bigotry.

Angelo Dundee dies...

So famous even I knew who he was and I am not necessarily a boxing fan.
Boxing is one of those sports that only a man can get into.
OK, there are some women who like it however for the most part it's a guy thing.
This guy was the trainer who trained Muhammad Ali, the purported "Greatest" ever.
Boxing legend Angelo Dundee dies at 90
Angelo Dundee, the Hall of Fame trainer who guided Muhammad Ali’s career, died of a heart attack Wednesday night in Clearwater. Dundee was 90.
Dundee had been admitted to a Clearwater-area hospital after suffering a blood clot following his return trip from Louisville to celebrate Ali’s 70th birthday two weeks ago, said his son, Jim Dundee. After spending a few days in the hospital, Dundee was transferred to a rehabilitation center, where he died.
“He was recuperating and coming along quite well,” his son said. “He was already making plans to take a trip to Las Vegas for another event in two weeks.
“Thankfully, the whole family was with him. We have lost a great man,” he said.
Rest in Peace Dude, you earned it.

Ciudad Juarez Police In Hiding?

Here's a heads up to all you intrepid tourists looking for fun...
When the approximately 2,000 police in Ciudad Juarez are hiding in hotels, you know it's time to cancel your vacation to that neck of the woods.
Living on the edge can be fun at times, but if the fun means trekking into areas where people are literally losing their heads, it's time to regroup and rethink.
Apparently a drug gang has threatened some serious cop killings until their chief resigns.
As of this writing, eleven police officers, including four commanders, have already been killed in the city, since the start of the year.
The city's mayor this week ordered police to use several local hotels as temporary barracks to protect themselves from attacks on the way home from work in the city at the heart of Mexican drug violence that has left 50,000 dead in five years.
Mayor Hector Murguia said Tuesday that they would stay in hotels for at least three months, with 1.5 million dollars put aside to pay for it.
How nice, who'd a thought they had $18,980,400 pesos at their disposal to toss at hotels while so many of their residents are living in abject poverty. Oh well, priorities.
Mayor Hector also stood by his police chief, Julian Leyzaola, a controversial former soldier who has also been asked to resign by human rights groups for his alleged heavy-handed policing. Mayor Hector says, "The chances that Leyzaola resigns or that they force him to resign are zero percent."
In front of the Rio motel, several men stand guard to prevent access to the new and improved barracks, while others eyeball the vehicles that pass by. I don't want to be all judgmental, but they aren't hiding very good when they announce where they're hiding.
Anyways, I hope they're wearing Kevlar for protection for when the drug gangs cruise by shooting their AK-47s.
The move into their new digs was no doubt prompted by the many banners that appeared last week announcing the daily cop killings as long as Leyzaola stayed in charge of the local police. The message was signed by the "New Cartel of Juarez."I guess they mean business.
According to some of the banners, Police Chief Leyzaola has been protecting another group of gang bangers who are closely allied to fugitive billionaire Joaquin Guzman.
Since Leyzaola took control March 2011, murders in Ciudad Juarez fell to less than 2,000 last year from 3,100 in 2010.
Leyzaola came from Tijuana where he had already gotten some attention from Amnesty International. They wanted to put him on trial for the alleged torture of prisoners. At least 25 cops gave eye witness accounts.
Then there's the Chihuahua state human rights commission, who recorded 37 complaints against him, including for abuse of authority and arbitrary detentions. Gustavo de la Rosa, one of their commission members said that the police "were told to arrest anyone who looked like a criminal or became nervous on seeing someone in uniform."
However, the authorities have praised him for reducing crime and the business community supports him and that's what's important, yes?

When it comes to exhibiting the behavior of a weasel, this guy takes the sweepstakes.
Who? Well, John Goodman, 48 years old. He's the founder of the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, Florida. As a result, he has become a very wealthy man. Not only is he egregiously lacking in integrity, he has no discernible conscience.
As far as I'm concerned wealthy people can keep their money, it's theirs after all. Why should they be expected to give it away? However, when they redistribute or hide their funds to keep from having to pay the piper, or to compensate someone over the loss of a loved one, just because they can, it's wrong, immoral and ought to be illegal.
Wealth should not allow a person to skate on their responsibilities, yet it generally is the American way, isn't it?
Let me tell you what this jerkweed did instead of stepping up like a man and accepting responsibility
Goodman, whose name obviously does not fit him, was driving a Bentley, ran a stop sign and slammed into Scott Patrick Wilson's car, causing it to flip over and land in a canal, where he drowned. Scott was home from college to attend his sister's birthday. He was 23 years old. The Goodman asshole did not call the police, nor did he call an ambulance. Instead, he left the crash scene on foot.
That right there qualifies him as a reptile.
It was determined that Goodman's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
He's facing a criminal trial on charges of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash which could net him up to 30 years in prison if convicted. He's also being sued by Lili and William Wilson for the wrongful death of their son Scott. Because he's entitled and not guilty of causing this kid's death, he decided to shield his millions by adopting his girlfriend, Heather Laruso Hutchins, 42, in October 2011. That she went along with this charade proves that she's no better than he is.
That's him with his new daughter.
West Palm Beach Judge Glenn Kelley wrote, "The Defendant has effectively diverted a significant portion of the assets of the children's trust to a person with whom he is intimately involved at a time when his personal assets are largely at risk in this case. Plaintiffs view the adoption of Ms. Hutchins as a 'game-changer' and as grounds to now include the assets of the children's trust, at least in some fashion, in the punitive damages calculation."
He also said the case "borders on the surreal and take the Court into a legal twilight zone."
Neither of Goodman's two biological children have reached the age of 35, the pre-determined age at which they can control their trust funds. Since Hutchins is over the age of 35, her adoption entitles her immediately to a one-third beneficiary interest in the trust.
The court had already ruled that the trusts for Goodman's children could not be touched, as they were not part of the asshole's net worth when calculating for punitive damages, but the family thinks the adoption should change the ruling.
Goodman's attorney said, "Nothing in this arrangement with Ms. Hutchins is illegal. Everything that has been done by Mr. Goodman was done with the intention to preserve and grow the assets of the Trust for his two minor children, even should he personally be unable to continue his historical role in achieving these goals."

I suspect it's people trying to create their own websites with out an established platform to draw from.
Say what you want about Blogger, but they do provide an easy way for any schmo to have a blog, that's good and it's bad all at the same time.
However, even so with the aid of Blogger one must exercise restraint because too much data confuses the message.

I believe that if I wanted to successfully embezzle more than $600,000 from my employer as well as swindling family members I'd come up with a better plan than faking a kidnapping.
Bonnie Sweeten didn't think ahead. As a result, she's facing eight years in prison time. She's also been ordered to pay more than $1 million in restitution.
The prosecutor wanted her to get 10 years in the slammer saying, "As part of her scheme to defraud, Sweeten concocted an elaborate hoax that she and her daughter had been kidnapped in order to deceive family members and law enforcement as to her whereabouts. She also stole funds from family members, from the law office where she had been employed and from the law firm's clients."
This knucklehead came up with her incredible story in 2009. She called 911 to claim call that she and her 9-year-old daughter had been kidnapped by two black men in a truck. This triggered an all-out search by federal and local authorities.
It sickens me when people conjure up stories that include threatening black men. Why do they do that? Are they simply racists at heart or just plain stupid?
In reality, prosecutors said, the 40-year-old mother from suburban Bucks County had taken her daughter to Disney World.
This sonsa also forged a signature of a judge on a court order for the purpose of fraudulently withdrawing client funds from a bank.
She deserved more time in prison for being so completely stupid in front of her daughter.

Frankly this week the usual perps have taken a turn for the worse. To imagine some of these folks are actually voting explains a lot.
This weeks unlucky arrested folks is explained thusly:
1) Feel free to Photoshop a message onto the forehead bandage of the 44-year-old gent on page #4. He was nabbed Sunday for drunk driving;
2) The South Carolina man, 71, on page #12 was collared for drunk driving. It is unclear whether he was also under the influence of oxygen at the time (or whether it was administered post-handcuffs);
and 3) The overalls enthusiast, 73, on page #14 was busted Tuesday by North Carolina cops for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Not much in the way of explanations however, as you can see one picture is worth a thousand words.
The idiot above was arrested for domestic violence, I hope it was his partner who clocked him good.
By the way why highlight such a cruel and stingy mouth with a stud?
Get a clue nitwit.
The photo below doesn't explain a whole lot, her crimes are merely listed however it does give one insight into her array of various dysfunctions.
We know she doesn't clean her house and she likes to fight, plus she looks big enough to create some serious damage.
I say give this woman plenty of space, and for god's sake toss a brush at her.

Clueless Mitt

Senator Carl Levin, a Dem from Michigan is the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and he had something to say about Mitt Romney.

Romney doesn't know what he's talking about when he criticizes President Barack Obama's proposed cuts in defense spending and is putting himself at odds with the nation's military leaders.

"He wants to attack the president as being weak on defense. The problem with his position is it runs headlong into the uniformed leaders, uniformed military leaders of this country who say this is their budget."

Earlier this month, Obama unveiled the results of an eight-month strategy review on reshaping and shrinking the military as the wars wind down in Iraq and Afghanistan. He promised to maintain U.S. military superiority while focusing more on Asia and less on Europe.

The Armed Services chairman said that based on his conversations with the nation's military leaders, they have embraced the budget as the "right way to go" after the strategic review.

The Romney campaign had no immediate comment on Levin's remarks.

Of course not. He's clueless, plus he changes positions often enough to get whiplash, thereby hampering circulation to his pinhead.

Not missing a beat, he goes even further to illustrate how clueless he is.

In an interview with Soledad O'Brien of CNN he said, "I'm in this race because I care about Americans. I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there."

He also said that he's not all that concerned about the very rich either, but then why would they need his concern, after all, he's one of them.

To be fair, not many GOP candidates care about poor people either.

Susan G Komen Foundation screws the pooch....

And here I had actually sent this foundation money, I feel like asking for it back.
How dare they?
Here's the crux of the matter, they have chosen to not give any more money to Planned Parenthood, in other words cut off funding for crucial health care options for poor women.
Poor women have little health care options and to cut this access to affordable mammograms and pap smears is unconscionable and just plain wrong.
The Foundation's reasoning was due to some bogus bullshit excuse and since they announced this curious and very political plan the supporters of the SGK foundation as well as Planned Parenthood have kicked up a ruckus and have positively blown up SGK's Facebook page calling them out.
Now the foundation is in a very embarassing position and have started to backpedal, trying to soften the blow by claiming their reason is not political.
Of course it's political you hyenas!
I'm with the supporters of Planned Parenthood plain and simple.
It is every woman's right to choose what to do with her own body and some creepy right wing agenda has no place in health care issues.

A young couple from the United Kingdom discovered that the Department of Homeland Security does not have a sense of humor.

26 year old Leigh Van Bryan and 24 year old Emily Bunting were detained after landing at LAX. Leigh had been flagged as a potential threat after tweeting, "Free this week, for quick gossip/prep before I go and destroy America?" He also tweeted that he was going to "dig up Marilyn Monroe."

DHS must have taken the Monroe tweet seriously since they searched his baggage for spades and shovels.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, the couple said their passports were confiscated, they were interrogated for five hours and then they were taken to separate holding cells for another 12 hours.
They were then put on a plane home via Paris.

Emily said, that officials then said that they were not allowed into the country because of Leigh’s tweet. They also demanded to know their plans. She said, “They asked why we wanted to destroy America and we tried to explain it meant to get trashed and party. We just wanted to have a good time on holiday. That was all Leigh meant in his tweet. He would not hurt anyone.”

According to the Daily Mail, Bryan and Bunting must apply for visas from the U.S. Embassy in London before flying to the U.S. again.

Oh but wait! There was even worse news for Leigh.

His Twitter account has been locked, barring any casual users from seeing his tweets. The account directs all press to contact a spokesman at South West News Service.

This should give everyone pause. I mean really, is DHS monitoring tweets?

Regarding this bizarre incident, Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman Jenny Burke said in a statement, "Based on information provided by the LAX Port Authority Infoline – a suspicious activity tipline – CBP conducted a secondary interview of two subjects presenting for entry into the United States. Information gathered during this interview revealed that both individuals were inadmissible to the United States and were returned to their country of residence."

In yet another interview, Leigh said, "The Homeland Security agents were treating me like some kind of terrorist. I kept saying they had got the wrong meaning from my tweet but they just told me 'You've really fucked up with that tweet, boy.'"

Apparently there is a desperate need for a translator for tourists from the British Isles. Oh well, at least they got to go to Paris.

The Department of Homeland Security was recently criticized over false accounts it set up on Twitter. These are then used to scan networks for 'sensitive' words and then for tracking the people who use them. Online privacy group, the Electronic Privacy Information Centre requested information on the DHS's scans, which it says the agency announced in February last year.
The group claims that a request under the Freedom of Information Act to access the documentation has gone unanswered.
The words deemed as being sensitive by the DHS include:

Since it has become painfully clear that the lizard Gingrich is, well, an arrogant blob of a reptile, who also happens to be nuts, it's not at all surprising that his supporters and security are no better than he is. They are -how can I put this delicately- ASSHOLES.
Just ask 29 year old Eddie Dillard. He happens to be a Ron Paul supporter from a suburb near Orlando. Well, he arrived to vote at his precinct at Winderemere Baptist Church early yesterday morning. Dillard noticed a man outside the polling place with a Gingrich sign. He decided to run home, slip into his "Ron Paul Rocks America" T-shirt, grab a "Ron Paul 2012" sign from his garage, and return to give his candidate some representation outside the precinct after he cast his vote.
This turned out to be a big mistake. Huge.
He felt he was safe enough on the sidewalk lined with tiny American flags, so he held up his sign.
That's when the fun began.
He had no idea that Gingrich had chosen that very spot to make his first Primary Day campaign stop.
When Gingrich's bus pulled up, Dillard stood silently holding his sign and watched the news-media horde swamp the candidate. Gingrich stepped down from the bus and made a beeline for Dillard. He stopped in front of Dillard and his sign and parked himself for a round of handshaking and pictures with voters.

As you can see by the photo, there's Dillard holding the sign, with Gingrich and his creepy wife inches away.
Since this made for awkward photos, the goons moved in and surrounded Dillard, trying to scare him away.
One of Gingrich's security agents stepped in front of him. When Dillard didn't budge, the agent lifted his heeled shoe over Dillard's bare foot and dug the back of it into his skin, twisting it side-to-side like he was stomping out a cigarette. Shocked, Dillard kept his ground and took a picture of the agent with his phone, which was quickly knocked out of his hand. Dillard slipped off his flip-flop to pick up the phone with his foot, and a Gingrich supporter kicked the sandal away.
To the goon who knocked away his sandal, Dillard shouted, "Don't kick me!"
That's when more members of Gingrich's goons closed in on him shoving their bodies in front of him.
That's when a campaign aide hollered, "Just block him! Everyone step on his toes!"
Gingrich supporters put up a "Newt 2012" sign in front of Dillard's Paul sign.
When the candidate finished taking pictures with voters, furious Gingrich aides grilled Dillard.
"If we did this to you, you guys would be furious," said an aide before stomping back toward the bus. "They have no class. No class."
Oh I see, stomping on someone's foot exhibits class? How much you wanna bet these jackasses all go to church. I'm here to tell them they are not good Christians. The worst part is that their jackass leader wants to be president.
Moral of the story? Never wear sandals.

Surely everyone has heard about the giganto baby boy that was born in Iowa. The kid weighed 13 pounds and 13 ounces.
That's him to the left. His name is Asher Stewardson and he measured 23 ½ inches long.
Fifteen months ago, His brother, Judah, born 15 months ago weighed 12 pounds and 1 ounce at birth.
The boys' mother, Kendall Stewardson, endured six hours of labor without an epidural injection.
Big deal, I was in labor longer without any drugs, of course my baby only weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces so I'll shut up about that.
Anyway, as luck would have it, Asher will have to take a back seat to this jumbo baby born in Texas last summer.
So anyways, what concerns me about the obese babies is the weight problem that these kids are born with. Yes, they are obese. Look at them. Asher has three chins and his hands and wrists are fat. Was the Mom dining at the feed lot? This is NOT normal, and nothing to be proud of.
According to official statistics from the United Kingdom, the number of children that are born with extra fat on their bodies is increasing at an alarming rate. The finding is significant, as it highlights an issue which has not been taken into account too much over the years.
Just to make things clear, researchers are not talking about the normal extra fat that newborn babies have, which makes their knees look dimpled and their cheeks adorable.
They are talking about excessive fat of the bad kind, that the babies can take with them into childhood.
In many children, this is just a natural stage in their development, and then they slim down as they get older. A research published this month in the American Journal of Health Promotion shows that one third of young kids make doctors uneasy with their weight.
Author Alan Greene says, "Historically about 15 percent of babies were above that weight, and now 30 percent are." He wrote "Feeding Baby Green: The Earth-Friendly Program for Healthy, Safe Nutrition During Pregnancy, Childhood, and Beyond."
It would be nice if doctors made it mandatory for women to learn about healthy eating when pregnant. It can only serve to help their newborns. However, no one asked me, did they?

..turns out if you're poor and you go to college you may significantly lower your chances of marriage due to the unavailability of suitable partners.
In other words you are neither fish nor fowl.
Too smart or too different from your peers who come from poorer circumstances, then it becomes difficult to find a suitable mate.
This study claims to cut across the board racially and socioeconomically, that is to say all of the pertinent demographic data is considered.
Hmm.
Maybe.
If the poor and that includes many students of color (and believe me I see them and know who they are,) even get to college it is often to improve their circumstances economically.
It isn't necessarily to find a mate, that's middle class thinking.
Although my father cautioned me about getting too much education because "what man wants an educated wife?"
Who indeed.
Oddly that's exactly where I met my husband, the first one.
The only one. Husband.
Anyway, I'm digressing here.
College has been the place where people find mates and this study indicates education doesn't bridge all of the
gaps.

ITHACA, N.Y. — For those with few social advantages, college is a prime pathway to financial stability, but it also unexpectedly lowers their odds of ever marrying, according to a study by Cornell University sociologist Kelly Musick being published in the February issue of the Journal of Marriage and Family (available online: http://bit.ly/yt9uwJ).

It gets complicated.
For those of us from ethnic backgrounds sometimes we are not willing to cross the racial devide not to mention class.
The findings suggest that social and cultural factors, not just income, are central to marriage decisions. Men and women from the least advantaged backgrounds who attend college appear to be caught between social worlds -- reluctant to "marry down" to partners with less education and unable to "marry up" to those from more privileged upbringings. Lower marriage chances appear to stem from men's and women's mismatched social origins and educational attainment -- a phenomenon Musick and co-authors refer to as "marriage market mismatch."
Here's the deal, while many people still want to get married, it's folly to expect to find a mate in college. Sometimes that doesn't happen.
We need to teach our daughters marriage is not the end all be all. Period.
"College students are becoming more diverse in their social backgrounds, but they nonetheless remain a socio-economically select group," said Musick, associate professor of policy analysis and management in the College of Human Ecology. "It may be difficult for students from less privileged backgrounds to navigate social relationships on campus, and these difficulties may affect what students ultimately gain from the college experience."

Dan Gainor of the conservative Media Research Center told Fox Business host Eric Bolling that "The Muppets," the new movie starring Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, had a liberal agenda.

Gainor said, "It's amazing how far the left will go ... to manipulate your kids to ... give them the anti-corporate message." Gainor claims that Hollywood is trying to brainwash kids.

The villain in the film is an oil baron named Tex Richman who wants to destroy the Muppet studios in order to dig for oil.

Well, guess what? Kermit and Miss Piggy had something to say about that...

...in my previous post I wondered what the hell is wrong with legislators, they are now engaged in passing laws that seek to legislate morality.
Can't be done.
This one is most amusing because now it has begun to backfire in their stupid faces.
Instead of passing laws to improve life for everyone they are concerned with making life miserable for a few.
Legislator In Favor of Drug Testing Welfare Recipients, Not in Favor of Drug Testing Legislators
Indiana Republican Jud McMillin has withdrawn his bill that proposes to test welfare recipients for the presence of illegal drugs after a Democrat in the state's General Assembly tacked on a provision in the bill that would require that legislators themselves also be tested for drugs.
As asinine as this law is some states have already passed these laws.
So instead of using tax dollars to lift up the few who so desperately need this money the legislature is peeing on the poor.
McMillin says his withdrawal of the proposal wasn't because he fears that he may be denied his cushy legislator benefits once his raging heretofore secret crack habit is discovered, but rather to give him time to rewrite the legislation so it's not as unconstitutional.
The explanation goes into detail as to how these people are getting screwed.
A judge ruled in 1997 that it's not legal to test political candidates for drug use, and last year, a federal judge struck down a Florida law that required all welfare recipients to pass a drug test before being eligible for benefits, ruling that its enforcement constituted illegal search and seizure. To get around this, McMillin is adding language to the bill that would only require drug testing if the recipient of benefits were to arouse suspicion of being on drugs.

I found this war on the poor very disconcerting. Apparently it is now a crime to be poor and to be female in America.

A twisted view of honor

It's not enough to say that I'm completely disgusted by this story, Not even saying I'm appalled and sickened is enough.
In 2009, an Afghan couple who had settled in Canada, 58 year old Mohammad Shafia and his wife, 42 year old Tooba Yahya murdered their three daughters, Zainab, 19, Sahar 17, and Geeti, 13. They also murdered 52 year old Rona Amir Mohammad, Shafia's childless first wife. Their son Hamed, 21, helpful as always, went along for the murderous ride. Why? Well, it seems that the three teenage sisters "dishonored the family" by not abiding to their disciplinarian rules on dress, dating, socializing and using the Internet.
In other words, the girls wanted to assimilate and be normal teenagers alongside their peers. Sadly, this earned them a death sentence so that their father could retain his honor. Sounds fairly fucked up to me.
First wife Rona was more than likely murdered because she wrote in a diary that her husband beat her and "made life a torture," while his second wife called her a servant.
Well, after their trial in Ontario, Canada, each one of them was guilty of four counts of first-degree murder. First-degree murder carries an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Too bad they won't just throw away the key.
After the verdict was read, the three defendants again declared their innocence.
In their minds I'm sure they think they are innocent. However, here's the thing, if they settle in a country that does not condone their barbaric customs, then they will have to pay the piper when they carry them out.
The bodies were found June 30, 2009, in a car submerged in a canal in Kingston, Ontario, where the family had stopped for the night on their way home to Montreal from Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The prosecution said it was a case of premeditated murder, staged to look like an accident.
Defense lawyers said the deaths were accidental. They said the Nissan car accidentally plunged into the canal after the eldest daughter, Zainab, took it for a joy ride with her sisters and her father's first wife.
Brother Hamed said he watched the accident, although he didn't call police from the scene.
If it wasn't murder, why not call the cops?
After the trial, Ontario Superior Court Judge Robert Maranger said, "It is difficult to conceive of a more heinous, more despicable, more honorless crime. The apparent reason behind these cold-blooded, shameful murders was that the four completely innocent victims offended your completely twisted concept of honor that has absolutely no place in any civilized society."
Shafia, a wealthy businessman, married Tooba because his first wife could not have children.
Shafia's first wife was living with him and his second wife. The polygamous relationship, if revealed, could have resulted in their getting 86'd from the country, plus, they no doubt needed a maid.
The months leading up to the deaths were not happy ones in the Shafia household, according to evidence presented at trial.
The prosecution said her parents found condoms in Sahar's room as well as photos of her wearing short skirts and hugging her Christian boyfriend, a relationship she had kept secret. Geeti was becoming almost impossible to control: skipping school, failing classes, being sent home for wearing revealing clothes and stealing, while declaring to authority figures that she wanted to be placed in foster care.
The prosecution had wire taps and mobile phone records from the Shafia family to support their honor killing allegation. The wiretaps, which capture Shafia spewing vitriol about his dead daughters, calling them treacherous and whores and invoking the devil to defecate on their graves, were a focal point of the trial.
This monster was heard saying, "There can be no betrayal, no treachery, no violation more than this. Even if they hoist me up onto the gallows ... nothing is more dear to me than my honor."
A few dozen years in the slammer will have him valuing freedom much more.

In a move to highlight gender inequity a woman legislator introduced a bill that is just as ridiculous as the bill created to prohibit abortion.
She tacked on expensive and unnecessary exams before men obtained a prescription.
In other words make it just as much of a pain in the ass for men to get medical care as for women.
It was a good idea.

To protest a bill that would require women to undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion, Virginia State Sen. Janet Howell (D-Fairfax) on Monday attached an amendment that would require men to have a rectal exam and a cardiac stress test before obtaining a prescription for erectile dysfunction medication.
Of course, this would never pass the test, because after all abortion foes are distinctly crazy.
"We need some gender equity here," she told HuffPost. "The Virginia senate is about to pass a bill that will require a woman to have totally unnecessary medical procedure at their cost and inconvenience. If we're going to do that to women, why not do that to men?"
Amen sister, you're on the right track.
The Republican-controlled senate narrowly rejected the amendment Monday by a vote of 21 to 19, but passed the mandatory ultrasound bill in a voice vote. A similar bill in Texas, which physicians say has caused a "bureaucratic nightmare," is currently being challenged in court.
Without a care as to how these idiotic laws impact women they introduce legislature that removes our agency over our own bodies, now we are mere livestock in this culture.
As you know cows can't decide what happens to their bodies, now women can't either.
Howell said she is not surprised her amendment failed.
"This is more of a message type of an amendment, so I was pleased to get 19 votes," she said.
Which is actually surprising once you consider who is sitting in the senate chamber.

Mitt Romney is a study in opportunism and prevarication. His ability to veer haphazardly into different directions would make a hummingbird jealous. He wants it both ways. He has flip-flopped on positions such as abortion, gun rights, immigration and personal mandates for health insurance so frequently that nobody knows what he believes.

He is also one of the very privileged top 1% who makes substantially more money than 99% of Americans while he pays the tax rate that someone who earns less than $50,000 per year would pay.
At the last GOP debate in Florida, moderator Wolf Blitzer asked Romney, “You’ve had an ad running saying that Speaker Gingrich called Spanish – quote – ‘The language of the ghetto.’ What do you mean by that?”
Romney’s answer was one of the most confusing, convoluted, non-responsive bits of gibberish anyone has heard in a long time.
He said, “I haven’t seen the ad, so I’m sorry, I don’t get to see all the TV ads. Did he say that? Did you say that? I doubt that’s my ad, but we’ll take a look and find out…Let me ask the speaker a question. Did you say what the ad says or not? I don’t know.”
Unfortunately for Romney, he was not given the opportunity to take a look and find out. Blitzer immediately performed a fact-check and told Romney, “We did double check. It is one of your ads. it’s running here in Florida on the radio and at the end you say (in Spanish) ‘I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message.’”
Ooo! Ouch!
Is Mitt Romney dishonest, stupid or both? Did he intentionally mislead the debate audience when he said, “I doubt that’s my ad”? More than likely, since he did after all, take the time to learn how to say, “I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message” in Spanish. Maybe Mitt Romney is just stupid. Perhaps he agreed to place his stamp of approval on an ad that he never took the time to review beforehand. Maybe Romney just has a very poor memory and could not recall producing the ad in question.

Whatever the true answer may be, it does not reflect kindly upon a man who wants to be President of the United States of America. Our nation deserves much more from our Chief Executive.

What the artist sees..

...is certainly not what the rest of us sees.
An interesting story regarding the painting of day laborers in LA.
I suppose some see this as intrusive into the cultural worlds of those that can afford the buy the paintings.
It's an age old argument, depicting the daily lives of those below the class of those that can afford the luxury of a painting.
Some artist artists are over rated and it takes the opinion of an art critic to explain the appeal of the "genius" behind the work. In this case the paintings are rudimentary at best, and not really doing justice to the subject.
I suppose the appeal is in the subject matter and in the dignity of the subject.
At any rate it's all a matter of whether or not these painting sell.
I suppose I would have done just as well painting workers from the freezer in Santa Maria, hey, that's a good idea.

Linette Kossow's Chicago apartment has been burglarized and her email hacked. Then early Friday morning, a man on the 36/Broadway CTA bus downtown snatched her wallet from her shoulder bag and fled out the rear door.
Kossow hesitated for only a moment. Fed up with feeling helpless and preyed upon, she said, she snapped — and took off after the burly thief.
That would have pissed me off royally.
"I had a lot of bad things happen, and I was just done," said Kossow, 50. "I was just frustrated. I was tired of being a victim."

Well, Hallelujah and distribute the ACLU cards. Alaska Airlines announced that it would end a decades-old tradition of handing out prayer cards with its in-flight meals.
The airline began offering prayer cards in the 1970s after an executive spotted them on another airline. They were intended to serve as a marketing strategy and to put passengers at ease.
In an email to their frequent fliers, Alaska Air Group Chairman, CEO Bill Ayer and Alaska Airlines President Brad Tilden wrote, "This difficult decision was not made lightly. We believe it's the right thing to do in order to respect the diverse religious beliefs and cultural attitudes of all our customers and employees. Religious beliefs are deeply personal and sharing them with others is an individual choice."
As expected, the change prompted complaints on the airline's Facebook page from people expressing disappointment with the change.
Yeah? Well then, they can bring their own prayer cards.
Alaska Airlines made this decision last fall, after reviewing an increase in complaints. Spokeswoman Bobbie Egan, "The idea of removing the card had come up several times over the past few years and prompted thoughtful discussion. When the issue came up again last fall, after carefully considering all sides, it was agreed that eliminating the card was simply the right thing to do. Over the years, we've received comments from customers who were comforted by the card, but many others felt as though religion was not appropriate on an airplane and preferred not to receive one."

Naturally, right on cue, Caribou Barbie puffed up and launched into one of her usually idiotic whines.
She collected her crayons and wrote to Alaska Airlines, her favorite carrier, to complain about a decision to end its practice of giving passengers prayer cards during flights.
Calling the decision “nonsensical,” she said it was the latest example of how it had become “hip to wage war on American traditions lately.”

This sonsa says that giving every passenger a Christian prayer card is all about religious freedom. "Religious freedom" huh? I'm curious what she'd say if the head of the airline became a Muslim and decided to give out Islamic verses instead.
Am I taking crazy pills? Am I wrong to believe that this country, being the land of the free and all, allows and defends religious freedom? Evidently in this sonsa's feeble brain, America is the place where everyone is forced to observe the Christian faith. Isn't this type of extremism what the Taliban are so famous for? Yep, this doesn't sound very free to me.

Beside the fact it's cold in the Ukraine, one might admire their willingness to strip for their righteous causes.
DAVOS, Switzerland — Three topless Ukrainian protesters were detained Saturday while trying to break into an invitation-only gathering of international CEOs and political leaders to call attention to the needs of the world's poor. Separately, demonstrators from the Occupy movement marched to the edge of the gathering.
Thank goodness they're easy on the eyes.
I ain't saying women with less than pleasant upper bodies can't protest however if they're difficult to look at the message becomes about something else.
After a complicated journey to reach the heavily guarded Swiss resort town of Davos, the Ukrainians arrived at the entrance to the complex where the World Economic Forum takes place every year.
Still they have plenty of nerve and commitment don't they?
With temperatures around freezing in the snow-filled town, they took off their tops and tried to climb a fence before being detained. "Crisis! Made in Davos," read one message painted across a protester's torso, while others held banners that said "Poor, because of you" and "Gangsters party in Davos."
So they froze their titties to make a point.

Bad Habits

Most people would say anything to avoid being locked up, but a Utah woman served up a doozy for officers who suspected her of shoplifting.

This is Leah Efay Davis. She gave herself a five-fingered discount on $600 worth of merchandise at a J.C. Penny store at the Provo Towne Centre Mall in Provo, Utah on New Year's Eve.

She was stopped the store with her ill-gotten gains. The officers escorted her back into the store and found purses and four pairs of pajamas in her shopping bag.

When she was asked what her name was, she told the officers that she was Rudy Huxtable from The Cosby Show, and that she owned the mall.

Okay then.

The really bad news for her was that she was well known to cops.

She was arrested twice last year for numerous charges that including shoplifting and trespassing. In fact, she had already been banned from that mall due as a result of her previous shoplifting habits.

She also told the cops she was eight months pregnant. Despite that, she was charged with retail theft and criminal trespass, jailed and held on $5,000 bail.

Considering her love of shoplifting this latest charge was upped to a felony. Her next gig just might be a long stint in prison.

Here's today's lesson boys and girls: When the cops come for you, if you resist arrest, or pull a gun, you will be shot dead, even if you're a cop.

A Santa Maria police officer was under investigation for some minor misconduct that wasn’t serious enough to suspend him. In the course of that investigation, they uncovered even better information about sexual misconduct with a 17 year old girl, so a decision was made to arrest the officer immediately. This occurred at about 1am Saturday morning where he was still on duty at a DUI checkpoint. Apparently they considered him to be a flight risk? Well, he was shot dead by a fellow officer, so that's no longer an issue.

I drove through that area at 6am, on my way out of town for the day and the police tape was still up, and stayed up until noon. Bet the businesses loved that action.
Santa Maria police Chief Danny Macagni said the officer, a four-year department veteran, had just learned of the internal investigation of the sexual relationship with the girl, and it became necessary to arrest him immediately.
He resisted arrest when two supervisors arrived, first putting up a physical fight, then pulling and firing his gun but hitting no one.
Several officers came to help the police making the arrest, and one of them shot the suspected officer in the chest once.

These cops don't carry Tasers?
At a news conference Macagni said, "He chose to resist, to remove his weapon. We're saddened by the whole incident."
The officer who filed the fatal shot, a department veteran of about eight years, has been placed on administrative leave, and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department was investigating the shooting. Both moves are customary in shootings involving police.
The name of the officer killed has not been released because some family members were still being notified, and the name of the officer who fired the shot was withheld while the incident was under investigation.

I'm certainly not trying to be this guy's lawyer, nor am I excusing him, but I know what some 17 year old girls are capable of. Again, don't these cops carry Tasers?

The Truth About The Mess We're In

Whenever the GOPs start whining about spending by President Barack Obama, someone needs to quickly sweep the cobwebs out of their heads and then pull them out of their asses so that they can see the reality of the situation.
The New York Times attempts to answer everyone's question about how our economy ended up in the toilet by way of the massive deficit.
This report took the spending habits that the pinhead exhibited, and compared them to those of President Obama, from his inauguration in 2009 and projected through 2017.
Well, the result was no surprise to me, but then I've got my eyeballs open. Despite what GOPs and the Uptight Squad think, the pinhead out-spent Barack Obama by more than 2 to 1.
When President Clinton left office in 2001, the pinhead inherited a surplus, one that was projected to be over a trillion dollars for the next decade if the Clinton policies remained in effect. The chart below, which took information from The Congressional Budget Office and The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, tells the story of the pinhead and his spending ways, and how he turned a surplus into a deficit beginning in 2002, and how that deficit grew each year until he left office in 2009.

The truth is that the pinhead took an actual surplus of $127 billion in 2001, and turned it into a deficit of $319 billion in 2005. His total in new spending equaled over $5 trillion. This figure dwarfs the $1.44 trillion in new spending President Obama is expected to make through two terms ending in 2017.
It should be noted that the biggest spending spree the pinhead and the GOPs went on, according to these figures from the Congressional Budget Office, were his Tax Cuts. The New York Times report puts it this way; “If all of them [Tax Cuts] expired as scheduled at the end of 2012, future deficits would be cut by about half, to sustainable levels.”

All of this tells me that the GOPs in Congress and especially those with presidential ambitions are a herd of lying liars.

After all, this pig is a serial adulterer. draft dodger, deadbeat dad, narcissistic misogynist and one of the sleaziest corporate puppets to ever slime the stage.
Despite his baggage, this lizard is now neck and neck with Mitt Romney to become the leading GOP trying to beat President Obama in 2012.
Now that this reptile is in the spotlight, every stupid thing that he has said is coming back to bite him on his ample ass.
For example, when he tried to make the case against bi-lingual education at a National Federation of Republican Women event in 2007. In his effort to garner the Hispanic vote, Gingrich said, "children should be taught the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto.”
Then, if that isn't enough to illustrate his arrogant hatefulness toward others there's his descriptions of himself:

"I’m not a natural leader. I’m too intellectual; I’m too abstract; I think too much.”
"The most serious, systematic revolutionary of modern times.”
"I have enormous personal ambition. I want to shift the entire planet. And I’m doing it. I am now a famous person. I represent real power.”
"I read 'Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them' and I found frightening pieces that related to my own life.”
"It doesn’t matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

After divorcing his first wife he said to a friend: "She's not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of a President. And besides, she has cancer.'"

Obviously, the man is a pig. His own words give all of us a very good idea of what kind of person and politician he is. He is a hateful, vile, nasty, despicable, hypocritical, arrogant philistine who is personally and professionally unqualified to be President.
Clearly, he's nuts. No, that's too mild, he's bat shit crazy.

What else could explain his Mops for Tots program. This blankethead's idea is to teach poor children a proper work ethic by putting them to work as school janitors at age 9 or so. That right there is pretty bad, yet not surprisingly he came up with even dumber ideas.

As president he would call judges who hand down controversial opinions to appear before Congress to answer for their transgressions and would send federal law enforcement to arrest judges failed to appear. With that idiocy, he removed all doubts to the contrary. He’s nuts. And, by the transitive properties of political algebra, anyone who votes for him in a primary is nuts, too.

Bill Maxwell is an opinion columnist for the Tampa Bay Times.

He has written an excellent piece on Michelle Obama. He says, "First lady Michelle Obama is described as a strong-willed, highly intelligent spouse who works behind the scenes to protect the president's agenda. It shows a loving mother trying to ensure that her two daughters remain as normal as possible while living in Washington's harsh spotlight."
He writes that he came away with a better understanding of the Obama's as well as a higher regard for her.
Then of course, he mentions the addle-headed right wing purveyors of hate who love to spew poison at anyone who doesn't look like them, think like them or talk like them.
For example, the slob Rush Limbaugh, who claims that Michelle is angry, but pretends that she isn't. As if he knew anything about who she is or how or why she feels the way that she does.
An arrogant vile slob he is.
Then there's radio host and tea party activist David Webb, who is black. He says that "Michelle Obama comes from a very angry, black nationalist background."
Incredibly, he got even stupider.
He further suggested that the first lady, who rose from modest means with the benefit of America's "enormous opportunities," should mind her words, that in her role as first lady, "it's un-American" for Michelle Obama to bring up racial issues at all. "The majority of Americans do not like that approach, this underhand way of doing things."
Amazingly this pendejo thinks that he can speak for "the majority of Americans." He is such a nitwit that he cannot comprehend that talking about race is NOT un-American. If it is, why does every single government form include a section asking what race or ethnicity you are?

The shocking surprise is that instead of holding her tongue, as she has done until now, the first lady is striking back. During a recent interview with Gayle King of CBS News about Kantor's book, Michelle Obama attacked the right wing's portrayal of her: "That's been an image people have tried to paint of me since the day Barack announced, that I'm some kind of angry black woman. … There will always be people who don't like me."
Predictably, Limbaugh and Webb, are outraged that the first lady has the gall to stand up for herself and confront race so forthrightly, to use the words "angry black woman."
Maxwell writes: Here is my take. The first lady and the president have been models of civility and restraint in dealing with matters of race. They are loath to play the so-called race card. In fact, the Obamas always have been forced into racial confrontations.
If the first lady is an angry black woman, she has every right to be. Conservative white and black Americans are hypocrites if they say otherwise.
Although intellectually gifted in high school, Michelle Obama listened to an adviser discourage her from applying to Princeton University. She went anyway and graduated from Princeton with honors. When she applied to Harvard Law School, race became an issue again when counselors told her she would never make it at the premier school. She excelled at Harvard.
That right there might be what pisses off the racists.
Michelle Obama feels the hurt of race, not to mention gender, every day. It is an unavoidable part of her life. If she is an angry black woman, she earned it the hard way right here in the United States of America.
Bottom line for most of these entitled nitwits is this: Blacks and people of color can excel in sports, the entertainment field in Hollywood or with music. What they cannot do is excel in areas that were once held by whites only. This chutzpah leads to chaos in their feeble little minds and makes them crap their pants.

I always thought that when a police department's S.W.A.T. was called out, it was for definite and proven situations that included hostages, bombs, flame throwers, or other extreme threats.
Turns out, the police department in Buffalo, New York marches to a different drum. In that neck of the woods, S.W.A.T. gets deployed when a woman calls to report that her intoxicated son is causing a disturbance. There was also the possibility that he was holding two hostages. Over there I guess they don't verify if people are being held hostage.
Perhaps they needed practice, yes?
In any case, the woman said that she believed her son to be armed.
So, the cops showed up, surrounded the house and evacuated the neighbors.
They then ordered the man via bullhorn to drop his weapons and come out, but nothing happened. The police stood watch from 5:45 a.m. until they finally reached him at 10:45 a.m. on his cell phone. He then stepped out as requested.
The reason he had not heard the commotion or responded to the repeated requests to surrender was that he was asleep. He was also alone.
Police Captain Jonathan Scott said, "It was just a guy who had too much to drink. We thought there was a hostage situation in there, and it turns out there wasn't."
Still, the unnamed man, who is on leave from the Marines after serving in Iraq, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and taken for a mental examination.
Interesting. They felt it was prudent to charge a sleepy war veteran with a crime while letting the mother go free.
I don't know about anyone else, but to me, that sound nuts.

Namedropping Zetas and politicos, his rant is the most hyperbolic one I've heard so far.

East Haven cops screwed the pooch

The FBI has arrested four assholes in East Haven, Connecticut. Oops, I meant to say police officers on charges that they used excessive force against illegal immigrants and then covered up the abuses.
The jackasses dressed up as police officers were Dennis Spaulding, David Cari and Jason Zullo. Their apparent leader was Sgt. John Miller, who just happens to be the president of the police union. Each has been charged with conspiracy against rights, which carries a maximum prison term of 10 years. Some of them also face charges including deprivation of rights, obstruction of justice and use of unreasonable force.
Apparently this was the result of a federal investigation that began in 2009 and found that these assholes made life miserable for Hispanics. The investigation found a pattern of discrimination and biased policing.
They are facing charges that they assaulted people while in handcuffs, searched Latino businesses without provocation, harassed and intimidated people, including their advocates or witnesses and other officers who tried to investigate or report misconduct or abuse the officers committed.
The U.S. attorney for Connecticut, David Fein, said the criminal investigation is not over. They're still looking at other people and urged tipsters to contact the FBI.
Janice Fedarcyk, assistant director of the New York office of the FBI said, "In simple terms, these defendants behaved like bullies with badges."
This is exactly the type of behavior that paints every single cop as bad. I know there are good ones out there, I've dealt with them, so this really, really, really pisses me off.
Federal officials say the officers denied Latino residents and their advocates the right to be free of unreasonable searches and seizures, the right to not be arrested and detained without probable cause and the right to not be arrested on false and misleading evidence.
Nearly half or a third of the drivers pulled over by certain officers were Latino, and the number of Latinos pulled over by certain squads was "extraordinarily high," said Roy Austin Jr., deputy assistant attorney general for the civil rights division. Latinos who were stopped for minor violations were subjected to harsher punishments, such as arrest or vehicle towing, than were non-Latinos.
When this kind of crap is going on, how can so many people claim that we are in a post-racial America? Assholes.
Then there's the idiotic and somewhat repugnant mayor.
East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo is evidently no better than these four assholes. Despite the fact that Leonard Gallo was referred to in the indictment as a co-conspirator, he reappointed him as the Chief of Police. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Right in the middle of this egregious mess in his police department, the idiot mayor was asked by Mario Diaz, a reporter from New York's WPIX-TV, "What are you doing for the Latino community today?"

Actual Dumbest Mayor Ever Will Help Latinos by Maybe Eating Tacos
There's nothing funny, at all, about the years of civil rights violations that took place in East Haven, Conn., where four officers were arrested yesterday for routinely abusing their power and intimidating Latinos who entered the suburb.
What is funny is this video of idiot East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo telling WPIX reporter Mario Diaz "I might have tacos when I go home" in response to the question "what are you doing for the Latino community today?" It's like the best episode of The Office ever, except that it represents a real-life top-down culture of ugly racist incompetence instead of a cute fictional world of good intentions and happy endings.
America will change but not in my lifetime.
The change will come because it is inevitable, many gringos are trying to push back the tide, it's too late for that.
America will reflect its Latino citizens and the mainstreamers will simply have to share their space and wealth.
Rather like the Indians had to change, but without the genocide.
Take heart America, the Indios did survive, so will you.

Big box stores and their low prices on their oftentimes equally low quality stuff have been famous for crushing the little independently owned stores out there.
The trouncing that these businesses have taken is why this article about the family-owned Chagrin Hardware is so good.
Jim Black, a resident of Chagrin Falls, Ohio got the ball rolling by sending emails to 40 friends.
He wrote, "Let's show our support for one of our local businesses. I challenge everyone to spend AT LEAST $20 at the hardware on the 21st."
He says that it wasn't meant as a protest against the big-box stores that have created an ever-tightening circle around the community. It was just a way to thank Chagrin Hardware's owners for a beloved shop that has been a fixture in the village since 1857.
He added, "These are good people who needed our support. It's just that simple."
The store has been run by the Shutts family for the last 72 years. It passed from uncle to father to older brothers Rob and Kenny and the three youngest, Steve, Susie and Jack, who run the store today.
Black's note was forwarded and forwarded and forwarded again. Calls started coming in from folks out of state who wanted to make a purchase over the phone.
The store has seen its share of tough times. Road construction on Main Street at the store's front door some years back crippled business for a time. More recently, the weakened economy and the big boxes have stolen away customers.
By 10 a.m. the place was jammed. By 1:30 p.m., the credit card machine was overloaded and had to be reset. "This is so cool," said Steve Shutts, a mix of joy, wonder and happy exhaustion spread across his face. "I've seen people today I haven't seen in years."
When the final customer had finally left well after closing time with her fuzzy dice and floodlights, Schwind and Steve Shutts tallied the day's receipts. Shutts shook his head at the wild and unexpected ride.
He wouldn't say how much the store made that day, but was clearly pleased with the outcome.
"Thanks to Jimmy Black," he said. "Thanks to everyone. Thanks to Chagrin Falls.
"What a place to live."

So then, I guess Aretha isn't going to be planning a wedding any time soon. Good thing too because I just don't know where Vera Wang Donna Karan could possibly obtain enough silk to build a wedding dress for her.

So anyways, word is that she has called off her engagement to Willie Wilkerson.
Aretha said, "Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time. We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."
It was only three weeks ago that she announced that they were very compatible and that he had given her "specialized attention that she hadn't received from anyone else."
Clearly, she's never been audited, or met an IRS agent.

I do, a few weeks ago FBD* turned me on to the site, or was it SBD**?
I forget.
Anyway it's a virtual pinboard, that is to say a social site where you can literally pin all of your ideas, hopes and dreams, pretty dresses, great hairdos, make-up ideas, food, home furnishing, secret crushes, and so forth, it is primarily used by women.
At first I was completely bamboozled by it, I couldn't figure it out.
Then I did, it was easy.
One must be invited to join so I asked FBD to invite me, then I invited reenee and Gigi's mother. So far they haven't joined but they will.
It's addicting let me just say, once I get into it I did it all the time, it's fun.
You can follow specific people and see what they pin and have a giant virtual bulletin board and see their ideas as well, it is most amusing.
I like it.
You can repin their pins as well, so you get a better knowledge of those you follow.

......Pinterest is a social network, like everything else one talks about on the internet nowadays. It's "a virtual pinboard" that "allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web." It is also mostly used by women who are between the ages of 28 and 34, according to their Compete demographics from like six months ago, which pegged 54 percent of its users as women—but it's probably even higher now, based on anecdotal evidence.
In other words, it's Tumblr for ladies*.
You have to access the Pinterest site through Facebook or Twitter, since I use neither one I had to join Twitter, it seemed less threatening than Facebook.

According to a new study by Stanford University School of Medicine, women feel more pain than men. It was reported in the Journal of Pain, so that makes it true, right?
Yeah, I know, I laughed myself silly as well.
Let's put it this way: If men had to endure nine months of pregnancy and then had to force an eight pound object out of their bodies, it would not only be a national holiday, but there would have been maternity leave from the beginning of time.

Pain affects more than 116 million Americans annually and is a major cause of work disability and one of the most common reasons for taking medication, according to a 2011 Institute of Medicine report.
Of those Americans, about 50 million are women, according Campaign to End Chronic Pain in Women.
The study's authors cautioned that this study cannot determine whether pain is actually experienced more intensely by women or whether women simply communicate better with their health care providers about pain.
But many other medical experts are skeptical about the Stanford study. They say the authors didn't account for the possibility that if many women had additional diseases that caused pain, it could actually be the other diseases, and not their gender, which is responsible for the women having more pain than men.
Women routinely have more problems with their bodies, it's a fact. This is the reason they will always have higher health insurance premiums. That does NOT make them more susceptible to pain. They are however less likely to brush it off.

Women reported more intense pain than men in 14 of 47 disease categories. Men did not report more intense pain in any category. Women with musculoskeletal disorders such as back, neck and joint pain, sinusitis and even high blood pressure reported more intense pain then men with these conditions.

Well of course not. What kind of wuss would admit to pain, unless of course he's spurting arterial blood.
Dr. Timothy Collins, assistant clinical professor of neurology at Duke University Medical Center, said researchers should have added this caveat: "Men consistently report lower levels of pain compared to women. At least in the US, there is a culture expecting men to complain less, not admit to as much pain, where women are generally allowed to express pain and emotions connected with pain."
Then Dr. Carol Warfield, a specialist in anesthesia, critical care and pain medicine at Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center goes further.

She says, "There have been a number of reports indicating that in our society stoicism is often considered virtuous, especially in men. Therefore, men may be less likely to report high levels of pain even if they perceive them. In other words, men and women may experience the same levels of pain but women are more likely to actually admit that they have pain."
Well then, I guess that explains why some bozos will walk around with a fractured shoulder blade for three days without saying anything. Idiots.

Tennessee Tea Party groups have introduced a proposal to take what few minorities there are in American history textbooks out of American history textbooks, along with any negative portrayals of the wealthy white men who led this young nation in its infancy.
Wow, just wow.
At a press conference, two dozen activists presented their proposals — I’m sorry, their “demands” — for the new state legislative session. Among them are sweeping changes to school materials that they probably have not actually read.

Tea parties issue demands to Tennessee legislators
So this is essence is what they're whining about.

We seek to compel the teaching of students in Tennessee the truth regarding the history of our nation and the nature of its government.”
......The material calls for lawmakers to amend state laws governing school curriculums, and for textbook selection criteria to say that “No portrayal of minority experience in the history which actually occurred shall obscure the experience or contributions of the Founding Fathers, or the majority of citizens, including those who reached positions of leadership.”
So, if you discount the complaints of the troublesome minorities, education of the masses would just go that much smoother.
Fayette County attorney Hal Rounds, the group’s lead spokesman during the news conference, said the group wants to address “an awful lot of made-up criticism about, for instance, the founders intruding on the Indians or having slaves or being hypocrites in one way or another.
Because you see, wiping out the Indians and having slaves is really no big deal.
“The thing we need to focus on about the founders is that, given the social structure of their time, they were revolutionaries who brought liberty into a world where it hadn’t existed, to everybody — not all equally instantly — and it was their progress that we need to look at,” said Rounds...

The next time you want to give a party for your teen who has just graduated from high school, serve punch or soft drinks. If however, you're dumb enough to supply a keg of beer so that the kids will think you're cool, think again. I'm pretty sure that Susan Sanders-Watt is wishing she'd done different on June 26, 2010.
Four of the kids that attended the party drove away drunk and only got a mile away when they had an accident. Only one survived.
Now, the prosecutor is seeking a prison term for her.
She pleaded guilty Monday to four counts each of corruption of minors and reckless endangerment and 17 citations of serving alcohol to minors.
She wasn't charged with involuntary manslaughter, because prosecutors couldn't prove the beer she served caused the crash because the driver had been drinking at another location before the party.
According to District Attorney John Peck, Susan is facing 45 years in prison, but says she'll likely receive less under the state's guidelines. Nonetheless he's going to ask for jail time to send a message to the huddled masses.
The D.A. said, "We're recommending a period of incarceration because three people were killed as a result of consuming alcohol. I think adults have to realize there are going to be horrible consequences giving alcohol to minors."
That might be his intent, but I'm betting that those he wants to get the message aren't listening.

Defense attorney Scott Bitar said Sanders-Watt gave letters of condolence to the victims' families and will make a public statement about the incident when she's sentenced.
Yeah well, nice thought, but arranging to ferry them home would have been much more appreciated by the parents who lost those kids.

and 6) The America Ferrera look-alike, 23, on page #12 was arrested yesterday by Idaho cops on a failure to appear charge.
And it looks like #13 above got some licks in because she was arrested even though she's all bruised up.
She looks like she thought it was totally worth it.

When football trumps common sense...

...ugly things can and will happen. Just ask Joe Paterno. He coached Penn State for 46 seasons and won 409 games before being fired in November with three games left in the regular season. He was handed his walking papers due to the child sex-abuse scandal involving assistant Jerry Sandusky.
He lost his job, but he never faced the music.

Of course it can be argued that he's facing the music now...on a separate plane of existence.
His family announced his death with this statement:
"He died as he lived. He fought hard until the end, stayed positive, thought only of others and constantly reminded everyone of how blessed his life had been. His ambitions were far reaching, but he never believed he had to leave this Happy Valley to achieve them. He was a man devoted to his family, his university, his players and his community. His loss leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled."
Too bad that his "thinking only of others" didn't extend to the child who was being sexually abused on his watch.
Clearly he was of the mind that football was more important than anything else. That must be why he failed to go to the cops back in 2002 when he was told by then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary that he had seen Sandusky sexually abusing a young boy in a shower on campus.
In the only statement he gave about his egregious failings, he spewed this bullshit:

"I didn't know exactly how to handle it and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was. So I backed away and turned it over to some other people, people I thought would have a little more expertise than I did. It didn't work out that way."
All he had to do was to pick up the phone to call the cops. What he chose to do instead was to protect his "football legacy" because that was clearly more important to him than anything else in the world.
After taking over as head coach in 1966, Paterno went on to become the national personification of the college football coach and the public face of Penn State, which made his eventual fall all the more compelling.
In many eyes, the sordid scandal tarnished the legacy of Paterno, who spent 62 seasons on the Nittany Lions football staff and became the winningest Division I coach in the history of the sport.
Bottom line, all of the accolades and awards this misguided munchkin compiled is a pile of bullshit when compared to his inability to do the right thing.
About the fallout from the scandal, Steve Shaffer, a 30-year PSU season ticket holder, said it best with, "the whole thing is like finding out there's no Santa Claus."

A key player in the 1995 travesty of justice

Philip Vannatter, the Los Angeles police detective who served as a lead investigator in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, died of complications from cancer. He was 70.
If you recall, he was among the first detectives on the scene at O.J. Simpson's Brentwood mansion in June 1994, following the stabbing deaths.
When Detective Vannatter testified at the subsequent trial, the defense tried to paint him as a liar. Their argument was that their search of the estate was illegal and that all evidence seized, the bloody glove, the bloody socks and the bloody drops should be thrown out because they had no right to be on the property. The defense consistently claimed that the cops were out to get Simpson.
The truth of the matter is that the defense lucked out to have drawn such a completely stupid jury. Of course having two idiots as prosecutors helped them as well.
On the witness stand, Vannatter sharply defended the actions of detectives at the crime scene. Two judges upheld the search on the basis of Vannatter's and other detectives' testimony that they were trying to inform Simpson of the death and that it became an emergency after blood was discovered on Simpson's Bronco and they feared people in Simpson's house might be injured.
The main reason I believe the cops on this is that they consistently gave Simpson a pass every time that Nicole called them about his habit of beating on her. Let's not forget that this jerk got away with his crap repeatedly.

About the entire case, Vannatter's brother Joe said, "He was very upbeat and he knew he did the right thing. He had such thick skin. They felt that they had the right person that committed this horrendous crime."
A 28-year veteran with the LAPD, where he spent most of his career as a homicide detective, Vannatter retired from the force in 1995 but continued on as a consultant for cold case murders.
He had planned to retire in late 1994 but due to the Simpson circus, it was delayed for more than a year. At the conclusion of the circus he expressed his disgust. I'm with him on that one.

A Mexican movie that at least sounds very good...

...I can't begin to tell you how many Mexican movies I have seen, all of this happened when I was a child so I was forced to go the the Mexican movies with my mother.
I did understand what I was watching unless the movie was adult then the nuances of language went over my head.
Some of the movies were terribly cheesey and the production values were not up to par. After watching American movies all my life my sensibilities were used to better let me just snobbily say.
After many years of watching Mexican movies I simply wrote them off as "B" grade and certainly not up to competition with good old american movies.
I did appreciate Italian movies, not many French movies and of course Spanish movies, the Cinema, as fans of European Cinemas refer to the movies.
The Italians were making good movies since 1945, take a look at Open City, wow. Anyway only lately has the Mexican Film industry become a force to reckon with.
It started with Like water For Chocolate, which was of course excellent. Many others followed and the directors of those movies has made their mark in Hollywood. Most notably Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron.
Here is Mexico's latest movie looks pretty darn good. They have tackled a very difficult subject and have declared this is their submission to the Academy for the foreign film Oscar.
I may actually watch this.

More than six years after a jury found him guilty of selling his San Diego City Council seat for campaign cash from a Las Vegas strip-club owner, Ralph Inzunza is heading off to prison.
“It’s time,” U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Miller said in a brief hearing on Friday, “to bring this matter to a close.”
"It's time", clearly that made his blood run cold.
Miller ordered Inzunza, 42, to report to a federal prison in Merced County by Jan. 30. There, at a minimum-security federal camp on the grounds of a larger, high-security federal penitentiary, Inzunza will begin serving a 21-month sentence.
We won't write Ralph, hopefully your wife will.
Once a rising star in local Democratic politics, Inzunza said nothing during the hearing, sitting with his hands folded in front of him at a table in the courtroom. More than a dozen supporters filled the seats behind him.
He has supporters?
More than likely his vast extended family. Good luck Inzunza's, what you learned from your father didn't serve you well.

I was a very happy man. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me...It was her beautiful younger sister.

My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight mini skirts, and generally was bra-less. She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I always got more than a nice view. It had to be deliberate. Because she never did it when she was near anyone else.

One day 'little' sister called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't overcome. Yuri Wright is a 17 year old high school senior at Don Bosco Prep, an all-boys private school in Bergen County, Ramsey, New Jersey. He has been touted as one of the best high school cornerbacks in the country. Naturally, with all of the attention he has had many offers and has spent loads of time trying to choose which college to grace with his presence. His top choices were Michigan, Notre Dame, Georgia, Colorado and Rutgers.
Well, that was the good news. Now the bad news. Due to his Twitter account, he's having to look for a new high school after being expelled.
Even worse, Michigan has pulled its offer - other schools were mulling doing so. Rutgers was supposed to host Wright this weekend, no word on whether or not that will happen.
It all happened after a series of offensive tweets that were sexually graphic and racially insensitive were discovered on his personal Twitter account.

Why don't people ever understand that once something is out in cyberspace, it's no longer "personal"?
Don Bosco head coach Greg Toal said, "He's a good kid and I think he has a bright college future and I wish him the best of luck. There is no question Don Bosco had to do what it had to do."
Wright is listed as the No. 85 overall recruit in the country in the final Rivals250 rankings. He is considered the seventh-best player at his position and third-best talent in the state of New Jersey.
Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell said, "To my knowledge this is the highest profile prospect to be dropped by a college program and expelled from school over Twitter. This has ruined Yuri's chance to attend the school he has labeled as his dream school in Michigan and it could cause other schools to back off as well. Hopefully this example will send a wake-up call to high profile prospects moving forward to watch what they put out in cyberspace."
Farrell said that Coach Toal has been preaching personal accountability for more than a decade - and about more than just social media.
He added, "Coach Toal teaches the kids more than just football. He's always teaching them about representing themselves and their school - on the field, on recruiting trips, on home visits by coaches. Don Bosco is the last place I would expect this to happen."
I think it's fair to say that the lessons didn't stick.

About Wright's prospects Farrell said, "From a college recruiting standpoint however, I don't expect this to keep Yuri Wright from being a major college football prospect. I know that two new schools jumped in on his recruitment Thursday night expecting a few others to drop out and I expect he will be heavily recruited up until Signing Day. I've followed kids who have done much, much worse in high school and still ended up earning college scholarships and going on to excellent careers. He did not commit a crime here while others have and still gone on to college."
The initial story was first published on Thursday on a Michigan fan site as an explanation for why the Wolverines had stopped recruiting the four-star defensive back. It has been met with some backlash as Wright's comments were pulled from a private - not public - Twitter account and intended for his own personal friends.
How personal can it be if his account had more than 1,500 followers? Because people dig the salacious so much, this will follow him everywhere.

Here's my question: Do all Transportation Security Administration agents have their heads up their asses or only the ones at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport?

The reason I'm asking is due to the idiotic decisions that these people have been known to make. Confiscating cupcakes, tossing out baby formula, patting down an old lady in a wheelchair, and it goes on and on and on. Apparently while they're busy throwing their weight around hassling passengers they're overlooking fairly important clues.

For example this last episode that occurred at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport.

A 65-year-old woman made it past a checkpoint and onto a flight at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Wednesday with a gun, and was only stopped after the plane was called back to the gate.

The weapon she was carrying was a .38-caliber revolver and it was in her handbag. She was to be charged with a state felony for carrying a weapon where prohibited.

Evidently airport police got a call from the TSA at about 6 am, asking for help locating the person who had gotten through the checkpoint but needed secondary screening.
So, if they knew someone got through with a weapon, why not confiscate it then? Anyone? Anyone?

Airport Department of Public Safety officers searched all five terminals and found the woman at about 8 am on board an American Airlines domestic flight that had been called back to the gate for inspection. A total of 10 flights were delayed an average of 20-25 minutes during the incident.

According to TSA, airport security officers found about four loaded guns per day at airport checkpoints last year. Most passengers said they had forgotten the weapons were in their bags.

Well of course they did. I usually always forgot I had a loaded gun when I was traveling with one. Idiots.

Other than the questionable photo of these sonsas wearing Indian headdress, the blog is OK.
It's entertaining on some level and a bit silly.
However none of that discourages us in any way.
We no longer drink having already drunk our share and possibly our children's share, we lay off the sauce.
As you can see these locas still drink. More power to them. And, the fashion is not bad.

As 2012 begins, it is looking about as depressing as 2011. Obama is finally showing a little backbone, but it seems more like election year bullshit than anything real. I guess if he wins, will really see what he wants to do when he no longer has to worry about re-election.
Don't worry about it, I suppose.
He blogs irregularly, and has probably last the mojo for blogging, I can't say that I blame him, it gets really lonely at times.
I still don't feel that motivated to post much. Maybe that will change, maybe it won't. Maybe it won't matter since by now there's no one really checking on this. Number one rule of blogging is that you need to update regularly, really, daily.
Luckily the two of us blog for each other and that keeps us motivated.

Piggish behavior never goes unnoticed

Wow, here's a big non surprise that's known to everyone except for perhaps the mold growing on the dark side of the moon: Newt Gingrich lacks the moral character to serve as President.

This news flash came from his second ex-wife Marianne.

According to her, while he's dragging his fat skanky ass all over the country claiming positions on the sanctity of marriage and the importance of family values, she saw an altogether different side of him during her 18 years of marriage to this weasel.

They divorced in 1999, and although she's never spoken of him or their marriage, she gave an interview on Nightline yesterday.

Marianne said she wanted to speak so that voters would know what a sleazy piece of crap he is.

She said when Gingrich admitted to a six-year affair with a Congressional aide, he asked her if she would share him with the other woman, Callista, who is now married to him.

"And I just stared at him and he said, 'Callista doesn't care what I do.' He wanted an open marriage and I refused."

Marianne described her "shock" at Gingrich's behavior, including how she says she learned he conducted his affair with Callista "in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington."

All this happened, she said, during the same time Gingrich condemned President Bill Clinton for his lack of moral leadership. She said Newt moved for the divorce just months after she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

None of this should have shocked her since her relationship with him began while he was still married to his first wife. By the way, he divorced Jackie as she was being treated for cancer.

She also said that Newt began to plan a run for President at the time of their divorce and told her that Callista "was going to help him become President."

Considering that his two daughters from his first marriage said, "The failure of a marriage is a terrible and emotional experience for everyone involved" and added that they would not say anything negative about Marianne tells me that Marianne is very obviously speaking the truth.

Marianne also added that this pig has never expressed any such regrets or apologized to her, but then why would he? He's an entitled, hypocritical, racist philistine with no redeeming qualities.

Captain Knucklehead

Just last week I was saying that I'd more than likely never set foot on a cruise ship. Now, after seeing what the addle-headed captain of the Costa Concordia had to say about how he ended up on a life boat instead of staying on the ship to watch out for his passengers, I'm positive I never will.
During his first court hearing to explain the disaster, knucklehead Francesco Schettino claims that he "tripped and fell into the boat."
He said, "I was helping some passengers put the life boat to sea. At a certain point the mechanism for lowering it, blocked. We had to force it. Suddenly the system unblocked itself and I tripped and I found myself inside the life boat with a number of passengers."
Once in the lifeboat that was lowered into the sea, he insisted to the court that it was "impossible to go back onboard."
Schettino, who is currently under house arrest, is under investigation for potentially causing the wreck by steering into the rocks and then abandoning the panicked passengers for a lifeboat as the ship plunged over on its side. In recorded radio transmissions released Tuesday, Schettino is heard telling Italian Port Authority officials he and other officers abandoned ship.
The luxury cruise ship was carrying more than 4,000 passengers and crew when it struck rocks Friday evening. At least 11 people were killed in the aftermath when the ship keeled over. Nearly two dozen people are still missing.
Schettino reportedly admitted that he made mistakes that led to the crash and afterwards, but said the ship's course, including the now-controversial close pass, had been set from the beginning.
Worse, there's video proof that he lied when he assured officials that he had dropped anchor shortly after the Costa Concordia slammed into a rock to stabilize the luxury liner.

This guy is toast. With any luck he'll be criminally charged.

Not a tragedy

Gosh, it appears that O.J. Simpson is in danger of losing his house to foreclosure. Okay, let me take a moment here to convey my feelings: Boofuckinghoo. Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman lost their lives. In the scheme of things, the two lost lives is the tragedy here, not the loss of this demon's house.

Apparently JPMorgan Chase filed for foreclosure in September on his Miami digs. Simpson's attorney has since filed a motion to dismiss the case, but there has been no further action since November.
He paid $575,000 in 2000. Its current assessed value is $478,401, with property taxes of about $9,000. The 2011 taxes were paid in December.
Considering that Simpson is serving a nine-to-33-year prison sentence after being convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and other charges, he's not able earn money in the manner he was accustomed to. I guess he's hoping to get back on track since he's appealing his conviction.
Yeah, good luck with getting hired anywhere since he's become a pariah after skating on two murders in 1995.

Simpson still has income from his NFL pension and another retirement account that is shielded under federal law from creditors, but I guess he's not interested in paying his mortgage.

As for any other earned income, a civil jury ordered him to pay $33.5 million to the Goldman family.
Simpson received $750,000 in 2007 for a book ghostwritten under his name titled "If I Did It." A Florida bankruptcy judge eventually awarded rights to the book to Goldman, who released it.

Amazingly, about 150,000 people actually bought this drivel.
About $350,000 of Simpson's money went to pay down a line of credit had tied to his Miami-area home. The bankruptcy trustee, however, filed a so-called clawback lawsuit against the bank that sought return of the money as ill-gotten gains. Cook said when the bank paid the money, Simpson's mortgage amount was raised to offset the cost. Residual payments from Simpson's movies, such as the "Naked Gun" series and "The Towering Inferno," go to the Goldmans.

Unfortunately for him, his completely controlling behavior and stupidity made him unable to leave his ex-wife alone and simply move on with his life. He screwed the pooch and is now paying for it. Too bad for him.

It's college!
That's one of the main reasons college is so damn much fun. I'm just saying. Didn't you all go to college? Do I have to spell it out?
OK, maybe not everyone was getting laid left and right but there was plenty of free nooky to go around.

Anyway, these two idiots were filmed having sex practically in public, OK, so it wasn't in public but it might as well have been because other people saw them and recorded them and well the rest is history.
Now this recording of a sexual tryst has gone viral and as they say, and now everyone can see them doing the deed.
